Breaking News Detection: The Breaking News Alert system adopts an innovative statistical approach to detecting Breaking News. Alerts Levels across 100's of topics are calculated every 15 minutes by comparing the rolling average hourly count of articles to the recent hourly count. This creates a dynamically changing display of the topics moving in and out of the news. For example using this system it is possible to quickly identify countries or companies which suddenly have anomalously high number of reports about them.
